You could not write a better saga than the rift between the Miliband brothers Ed and David which has split the family and made things so difficult at Westminster the Labour Party has been forced into two camps. Supporters of new Leader Ed include Lord Hattersley and Lord Kinnock whilst on older brother David's side are Lord Mandelson, Alastair Campbell and Tony Blair.

In public David denies any feud and talks of his love for his younger brother but privately he is sore about the way Ed joined the race for the Leadership and the way he did it. He never told David he was standing until he publicly launched his campaign in May 2010.

For ten years David has nurtured the ambition to become Leader of the Labour Party and hopefully the next British Prime Minister. He was the favourite to win and it was a shock to everyone when Ed was announced as the winner, David's wife Louise burst into tears backstage and was comforted by her husband as an embarrassed Ed looked on.
